Destroying my motorcycle this weekend.

Posted this in another forum or two but wanted to post here too. I wanted to do this to my last bike but never did. I am not a builder or fabricator but had to cut a little metal. Chop saw and a drill, lol. I am not claiming to be a streetfighter, Just want to be comfortable.

When she came home

Ziptied together: Protaper evo bars, protaper riser mount, $50 chopper headlight. Its what was available when shopping, no variety to choose from cuz I just couldn't wait and order online.

My $4 dollar headlight mount. Homedepot, framing hurricane ties

My gauge mount: another huricane tie $1.24

Almost done, had to get a Goodridge build-a-line 32".

I have to say I'm proud of myself, lol. I never modified anything, I have repaired, just never really changed. The ride is amazing. I got to try it out today for a bit. Love the comfy position and my head and eyes high and on whats important. Absolutely no weight on my wrists, so the bike wants to wheelie, Love it. I had no idea I would love the feeling as much as I did.

Sweet stuff. It really does make a difference. Did you ride it like that, without a muffler?

Yup took over an hour to get home. I have been putting around the neighborhood for 2 weeks now. Its LOUD, lol. The guy before me cut the pipe. I guess he was going to make a shorty, so I have a yoshi can, and I just purchased a muzzy slip-on here from kawi997. I just wanted the mid pipe really, but I'll see which one I like better. Should have it Wednesday.

I like it, as far as things I think need to be done, I'd at minimum get a mesh screen for your intake. But I'd move the headlight forward a little bit as well, it wouldn't surprise me if it's starving for air at higher rpm's since you've now negated having a ram air.

For other stuff, I'd see if you could either move/replace the brake fluid reservoir, and then replace the levers with some pazzo's or whatever else, they both just look out of place to me. And then I'd spray your frame sliders black, as well as the backside of the headlight black.

I have another idea, I'll pm it to you to see if you're interested

Yup it cuts out a little at about 11 to 12 grand. Definitely planning the screen. And was thinking about painting, but maybe not since the wheels are chrome too. I don't like chrome but its already there, so I may leave it. I do have a hook up on paint, but even with a hookup paint ain't cheap.

Definetly won't starve, that duct is huge for the power of the engine. Ram air is only good for ~100mph and up, so doesn't really matter on a naked bike.

It might cut out because it doesn't have a muffler or it has some other problem but I highly doubt it cuts out because of the headlight...

BTW, looks good. I've always wondered how the bike would look with a 7" headlight but that might be even better.

Klicky! Project: basicly nothing to do. 2003 ZX-6R with mods... still missing a paint job.

I had an 05 and it ran fine with the ram air blocked alot worse than yours until it got cold outside (40-50 degrees). I didn't have a mesh screen over the intake either, not sure what that would help. Nice work on the build.

I have the two brothers shorty on my zx6 and that's extremely loud, I could on imagine that bike screaming at idle.

All this is just ADVICE because at the end of the day, you can do whatever the FUCK you wanna do.
