Default Hard to start in the heat

If my bike has been sitting in the sun in 90 or 100 degree weather it doesn't start very well. I have to hold the starter in longer and it seems to barely start. After a few moments of running it sounds normal.

Any idea on what causes this?

Anyone else have this issue?

doesn't seem to make sense, these bikes run at temps over 200 degrees... I've never heard of this..

but your name is sweet though.

Thanks Man!

Yeah I have no idea what the problem is. My bike runs good at high temps, just doesnt seem to fire up crisply after sitting in the sun.

It has never been unable to start... it is just a "sluggish" start.

Until it doesnt start I guess I shouldnt worry about it.

Same thing used to happen to my 06. I started using a fuel additive called Fuel Power FP60 and it stopped completely. It also made my buddy's CEL in his Integra go away, heh.

Same thing happens to me bro when my bike sits in the heat for awhile, have no idea why this happens, but giving it some gas while holding the starter button usually works for me...

This is due to positive pressure built up in the fuel tank when it gets hot while sitting in the sun.

Its not a problem while the bike is running, but once off, the pressure builds up in the tank.

Sometimes opening the gas cap before starting it, to relieve this pressure, seems to help.

Otherwise, giving it extra throttle while starting it will do the trick.
