Failed Inspection- cracks in tire

Anyone else failed an inspection due to cracks in tires? Not from wear or tread depth, but from cracks. Only 3490 miles on these tires and good enough tread left but the guy said he couldn't pass me because of the cracks. OEM B016s BTW.

Post a picture of your tires? I don't think I have noticed cracks in any set of tires I have had.

I'll try to take a few and post 'em. Yeah, they were small and I didn't think anything of them, i always looks at my tires for nails and such. He told me they were probably old. I got this bike in May '10 but it was sitting on the lot since Oct '09. He said they are probably brittle from sitting that long before I brought it.

Shopping for new ones now. I can get the non OEMs for $200 front and rear. Seems everybody is split on the BT's- hear the non OEMs are a bit better though. Any input? And yes, i've read many of the tire threads, no consensus. I ride to have fun but not so much to get anything super aggressive.

It definitely sucks getting failed on an inspection when you think there won't be a problem, especially with a vehicle that's so new.

I just suggest you get new tires, at least replace the one that failed you, then replace the other. Tires will do that when they just sit for a long time. I had almost 7000 miles on my last rear tire when I went to replace it and it was flawless besides the lack of tread in the middle.

I love my 2CT's, but I'll probably never use them anywhere near their potential.

The factory puts cheap tires on the bikes stock. Anything aftermarket will be better. There are deals on tires all the time, you just gotta shop around. I'm partial to the Pilot Power line for their grip, price, longevity, and availability.
