Hi everyone this is my first post (besides the newbie center) So I'm sorry if I am not the best yet.
I just got my New 2012 ZX6R 3 weeks ago with 0 miles. It still sadly only has 350 miles cause the engine break-in procedure is torture on me. (only going around 45MPH. ANYWAYS!!!!
Im going to be installing some mods and recording it for instructional videos and being that it will be my first time installing all of the mods it should make it easy for everyone else to learn from my videos:
- M4 GP slip on with a Stage 2 silencer
- Blaster-X L.E.D. Integrated tail light
- Blue L.E.D. Running Lights
- 6000k H.I.D. Hi and low
- Home Made Fender Eliminator
If you are following the old-school break-in period instructions in the manual, then STOP! Those were made way back in the day when machining tolerances were weak and engines were not at all the same as they are today. Only thing I made sure of when I first got my bike was not to bring it close to redline for the first 1000 km's or so.
I didn't notice any difference in braided brake lines on my 09. Save your money on 'upgrades' and use that money to go to the track. It'll be more fun and that will truly make you a faster rider.

Huh? You're not braking hard enough then. They were one of the first things to go and easily one of the best bang for the buck items
How much did you spend on the Braided brake lines and sorry but ur gonna have to spell out what the difference between braided and non braided can do besides the overall look.

Braided stainless steel brake lines don't expand under the pressures of hard braking. So braking consistency and performance is improved, and they also give better feel/feedback.

How many track days did you run on the stock lines?
And maybe so about my braking, but there's no real heavy braking areas on the south texas tracks. I might be telling a different story had I put them on prior to going to one of the north texas tracks that's known for heavy braking. When i changed, I was running on the slower side of the Advanced group.
Either way, even at a fast intermediate pace on a heavy braking track, the stock lines on a brand new zx-6 are going to be fine. For street riding, the only reason you should change them is because of age.
