huh... See the issue I have is that both pieces are there, but they are not touching the gas tank. The gap between the tank and the frame is larger than the rubber tabs.
Then you have a slight problem. On my bike (2012) the rubber tabs are tightly fit into the gap. Without them my tank will wobble slightly. With them on, no movement.
Maybe you have something on your airbox that is preventing the tank to sit properly?
That is what I am thinking... The airbox might be installed incorrectly and sitting too high. I am about to take it off and put it back. Hopefully that is what is wrong with it.
So I took the airbox off and put it on again. Nothing has changed. Unless I am putting it on incorrectly somehow, I am really out of ideas.
Have you made sure your clutch and throttle cables were run properly under the bracket that secures the stabilizer and tank down? You may not have that bracket seated correctly which would in turn prop up the tank a bit. Good luck.

My tank rocks side to side as well, it's supposed to so it doesn't absorb so much vibration. The black side panels as listed above create a spacer and stop it for the most part.
I'd have to check mine again but the bike is in the garage under a pile of crap and will remain there for a while... but I THINK the tank doesn't move any more. Or if it does, it's very little.
As I said, it doesn't move at all. I just rode it today and it is solid with the side covers on. However it could be that my bike is new. It is 6 months old now.
