1982 kz1100 clutch release cam position

I was working on adjusting the clutch today (82 kz1100 shaft drive) and doing what the book said by turning in the adjustment screw until tight then backing it off well I had the release cam arm and locknut off from cleaning everything up so when I turned the adjusting screen back out the release cam also turned now it is out of position. My question is can i wind the adjustment screw back in and move the cam by hand back to its original position without messing any thing up?
