broken piston

I went out to the track on the turbo 636 and did some killer se-saw wheelies through third gear then just spun. Came back to the truck to find oil all over the back of the motor and shock cause it blew out the crankcase filter. I pulled the motor apart and found #1 piston broke the ring lands. I put in one of my spares and now I'm good to go.

P.S. Steve you're right about cleaning them polished pistons, thanks.

I'm sure you guys have done your own research on this already but, my Dad has told me on numerous occassions about Ross Piston when talking about taking my bike up to a 617cc. They have stocked pistons but, also will custom make pistons to your specs. You could send in an oem piston to work off of if you want and have them make additional changes to the spec you want. Just something to think about.

I got a few spares to keep me going just in case. I'm going to change my gearing cause I don't have enough to make it to the finish. I'm getting closer to having a good tune but its been one gremlin after another but she's bout to fly soon. I'm seeing some potential with my mph if I can keep the wheel down.

I'm accyually getting some custom pistons made from JE with an expansion groove, special skirt and using stock rings then custom pins cut from Precision Products for my 07 zx6r. Brian from JE has been alot of help. have you thought of just going 2 mil over instead of one?

Nice! I have thought of going 2 over but, CCS(roadracing) and I believe ASRA rules state that the max legal bore increase is 1mm so in my case, I am stuck at 617cc. That's if I want to have a legal race bike if and when I ever, I have to means to road race.
