Well, the new exhaust will be here on monday, and as I have been reading the FI (Fuel Injection) Light comes on due to the removal of the butterfly valve. (Yes, you can spend like $50-$100 dollars and buy a valve fixer from like "Two Brothers" but who wants to spend that kind of money?) After doing some basic research, (Google, Kawiforums) I have completed my mod and hope to help many others in the future. Thanks to all for the valuable information to contribute to this. Here it is, the FI Light Fix.

Materials Need:
Mending Plates (Go to your local hardware store and look in the door section)
Approx. Cost: $1.99
2 Metal circle washers. (About half an inch)
Approx. Cost: $1.00 for both.
Super Glue:
Approx. Cost: $1.00-3.00

First things first, remove the stock butterfly valve wires.

Now your cluster should read something like this.

Here are the mending plates, they come in a pack of four.
Image

Take 2 of the mending plates out of the package and using the "Super Glue" you purchased, glue one on top of the other making sure the hole is completely visible for the screw to go through.
Image

Make sure the little "notch" on the stock valve motor is turned up, (12 o'clock) Turn the bike on and off a few times until you get it there.

Put the stock screw through the mending plates then through the washers like so.

Now is the tricky part, put the mending plates with the washers in the motor, make it tight! turn on the bike and see if the light goes off, if not. Try to loosen it, and put the plates back at "3-9 o'clock" then tighten it back up. You might have to repeat the steps a few times until the light turns off. After you have made it work, you can use the "Super Glue" to make sure the bolt stays in place. Use just a dab around the bolt.

(^That is mine with the bike on)

Now your cluster should look like this!

Simple as that. Once again, thanks to everyone for all the help. Hope everything works out!

I did the steps exactly as stated and the FI light goes out for a second then it comes right back on. The servo moves the light goes out then it reverses and it comes right back on. I have tightened and moves and all that shit too many times. What the hell am I doing wrong. Oh and some of the times the motor moves and actually ends up loosening the bolt. I have tried this thing 10 times with no results. can anyone help???

I have turned the bike on and off about 30 times but the motor is always moving the notch exactly 180 degrees clockwise at a time. This means it goes to 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, not the 12 oclock position that it needs to be in. I dont want to force it, any ideas how to get it in the right place???

Cheers, Paul

(new member here) i bought my 06 with a slip-on and the FI light on after quite a bit of playing around with this mod i finally got the FI light to go away! but let me ask this question. when anyone else got this to work successfully did this happen to them. i watched and with the seat off the motor off the arm is completly rotated counter clockwise with the arm against the stop when i turn it on it does the cycle then back to the original position i just described accept now it pulses when i start the bike it centers and keeps pulsing about 1/16th of an inch to each side of deflection, its annoying to look at and hear (though not audible when running) but its just strange. if i put a little pressure against it it stops and holds still rev it a touch so it moves again as if opening the valve it then re centers and pulses again. non stop. its really just annoying but works great otherwise (also i used a piece of flat aluminum lying around and cut and drilled one out to my specs) any one else get this phenomnon? hopefully what i said makes sense or people can relate otherwise i can get a video if it really comes down to it. thanks guys/gals

Ya, some other guys have had similar problems. I believe that they ended up repositioning the block, and the back and forth subsequently stopped.

I know that you said it took you a little while to get it to turn the light off, so you wouldn't be looking forward to having to reposition it. But, that's just what I remember hearing...

Ha I gave up on this long ago. I actually call acrapovic and they sent me one og the brackets that was suppose to come with the exhaust. I put that on but it still "wobbles" back and forth when the bike is on. I even put a zip tie on the bloack like mentioned in another write up, but no luck. I am just going to get the ivans eliminator and put my PC 3 there!
