Anybody have a how to or advice on changing coolant on a 2003 Z1000. Never done it before but I can't find the drain plug and read somewhere that I may have to take the tank off. Any advice is appreciated.

I haven't worked on my z1000 in a while but from what i remember you need to take the fuel tank off to access the filler neck and cap to fill the new coolant, just remove the lowest hose that goes to the engine block i believe is on the left side the large one and let is drain out. Flush the system by putting the hose back up fill up the system with distilled water run it for a while (or not your choice) and drain the hose again after that add new coolant.

Thank you sir! Doesn't sound too bad except that i have a full tank of fuel right now and it's 45 degrees and raining. Time to drain!

And is there a bolt on the front of the engine block to drain extra coolant?

There may be one on the side of the motor on the water pump cover its probably the lowest one looks like a regular case cover bolt but im not sure, download the free service manual should cover it all. Also if you want to be really thorough take the hoses off the oil filter cooler and flush those too.
