Works like a charm! I had to use a 100ohm,150ohm, and a LM317 regulator to drop my voltage down to 3vdc (my garage door opener operates on a 3v batt.), then wire it to my LAP button. This was done on a 2007 ZX6R. The wire for the LAP button is on the left side instead of the right side of the bike.

Just did this on my 03 636 and my lap timer wire was the same color ( white with pink strip) as this Diy. It was also the same pin slot.

BTW, i noticed my garage door will not open/close sometimes when the bike's engine is turned on. it always works when the key is turned (but engine is not on).

does anyone know why?

I just completed this MOD on my 07 ZX6R last week.

I couldn't find a 12v remote for my door opener. Everything I found was 3v so I had to build a voltage regulator.

If anyone would like me to build them a voltage regulator to step down 12-14v to 3v let me know. You can PM me for details.

Does anyone have an answer for this???

Just completed the mod and I'm having the same result in that it won't open / close when the bike is running.

Old thread, but since the spammer bumped it...

A friend invented a garage door opener that is specific to motorcycles. Battery powered and mountable anywhere (FWIW he's been using the prototype for over 3 years and has yet to kill the battery.)
