My name's Mike and I'm from Fredericksburg, VA. I've been a long time reader and decided I would finally go ahead and join. I've gotten lots of good info from these forums over the past couple years so thanks to everyone.

Recently I had the pleasure of wrecking my 06 zx10r. I low sided at about 25mph thanks to my cold tires. Fortunately I don't think there's any mechanical damage, only cosmetic. I of course had all my gear on and walked away with only a few scrapes and bruises. I've been looking at ordering a new set of fairings and changing it up a little bit, but I'm kinda scared of all these Chinese fairings sets and how they'll fit as well as match the factory paint on my tank. I've been searching eBay for just the parts I need but haven't had any luck.

Here's a pic of the damage to the front left fairing and the belly fairing.

What do you guys think my best options are?

With respect, I don't think you can blame a 25 mph lowside on cold tyres.

Front left fairing looks easy to repair and respray.

I'd fit frame sliders for your next low speed off.

Non Kawaski parts should be OK for a complete fairing replacement but tend not to mate up with existing fairing panels. Probably best to take out a mortgage and order from a Dealer.

Out of interest, how many miles do you have on bikes? Just something about your post makes me think it isn't very many. Apologies in advance if I'm wrong.

I would say plastic weld it, and use some touch up paint. there is hardly any damage.

I rode a Suzuki Boulevard in college for about 7,000 miles, then an sv650 for another 5,000 or 6,000 and have put about 4,000 on my zx10. I low-sided the Boulevard too, but replaced factory exhaust and handlebars afterwards and it was good to go.

It happened within the first 2 minutes of my ride. I went around the same turn I have been around every single time I have ever ridden the bike at the same speed and taking the same angle, so either the tires were cold or I hit some kind of oil. When I rolled on the throttle, the back tire spun and then I was face up in the road. But as far as my question...

Nivek_16, I was thinking either that or some high-temp fiberglass tape and then sand and paint. I'll give it a shot. Thank you for replying.

I did a repair myself. I used evercoat maxim plastic repair. I veed out the crack and used this stuff. Its sandable and paintable. Seemed to work well. I youtubed how to reapair and just followed what they did. I picked it up at a paint store called rondex. I didnt bother painting it just gonna buy a whole set of palstics one day.
