I was recently gifted a 1986 kawasaki zx600, it doesn't run because "it needs clutch work." So I have never heard it start up. At the moment it needs all fluids and filters/spark plugs changed. I have air filters and new spark plugs. Every single fairing/cowling is cracked(more than one crack on each) but not dents or holes. It is terribly primered & has some "wiring problem" causing all blinkers to flash when and signal is turned on. I'm wondering if as a 17 year old making 500-600 a month, should I sink in money and restore it, or save myself the trouble and sell it or part it out. And if sell how much should I sell it for. I'm just worried I'll sink in 200 for a clutch rebuild and it still wont start. Any opinions will help.

I have an 04, and restoring that is costing a pretty penny. Something as old as an '86 model, I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. You're going to dump way too much money into it. Plus it will be a major PiTA to find parts.

Thats what I'm thinking, the fairings are so beat & you can't find any replacement parts that are in better condition. I don't want to dump money into something I don't like. Do you have any idea of what I could sell it for?

If you can fix the fairing then fair enough. You can get half decent repair kits and resins which will do the trick. A lick of paint after that and Italian all good. As for mechanical restoration unless you can scavenge parts at a breakers then I wouldn't bother cos you will pay through the nose

i need help please! i drop my bike and the gear shifter lever bend but i fix it already bend it back BUt when i change to gear 1 the engine STOP! is my engine broken inside?
