Name is Tim, i reside in Naples, Fl, I owned this bike for 8 months, it is the only Kawi I have had was a old 1997 KX250 racing bike (as my first bike lol) when I was 17. I gotta tell you, that bike scared the shit out of my, wrecked into a tree day 1, no damage to me or the bike, after a few days of putting around my yard getting used to it, i put on my riding gear (I always ride with a helmet), so jacket, pants, boots, etc, etc.
Go down the road cruising in 5th at what sounds like a high RPM I don't know what the RPM was on this bike, but i was hauling some tail.
I'm glad this bike was a off road racing bike, I had a Lawn mowing truck pull out from no where (was literally hiding behind trees), So quick choice, no more then 2 seconds to react:
try to stop from ~50?
try to get around the truck and hope the stop?
or go into the ditch, jump the driveway, and pray to god that you live??
I chose #3, they did stop, but I still went into the 3' ditch, and up the incline over the driveway, and landed on the flat ground on the other side, the lawn truck was on the other side of the road, but taking up the entire road.
I was shaking like a leaf in a hurricane, but I decided to keep going to the trails at the end of my street, where I fell in love with this KX250.
Like a idiot I got rid this bike a few months after I bought it. traded it for a racing swamp buggy, youtube it they are awesome.
but I tracked it down, and I found out where it is...4 years later I am attempting to get it back!!!
she has a blown motor, and i don't know how rough she is currently..but damn it i want the bike back!!!!!
I don't have any pictures, just a scary story, and a hope to get it back I really hope I do get it back
Don't lie to yourself, you ARE a noob. I seriously hope that you will not be an "idiot" again if you do indeed buy another bike. Please don't "haul tail" or do any stupid crap. You are not a safe rider and riding beyond your limits, which you seemed to do a lot of, is what will kill you. Don't think your helmet will save you from anything, because on the street it won't. You need proper gear, boots jacket, gloves, helmet, pants and a smart head.
The second you think "i got this" that moment will come when you realize you don't "got this" and something bad will happen.
seeing as I don't ride on the street other then the half mile down my back road to the trails I don't see the need for full gear. I am more then happy with the gear I have, helmet, riding jacket, steel toed boots, and some thick denim jeans. I never said I was a expert rider, and I ride with in my limits.
I respect bikes too much to think I can handle them all, so I never had a "I got this" moment,

You yourself said you crashed on day 1 into a tree. How does one manage to do that if he is riding within his limits. You also said you were not new to riding, but you are... that's all I'm saying.
You should be working on slow manuevers rather than "hauling some tail" as you put it.

hitting a tree at ~5-10mph isn't the same as sliding down a road. I spent 1 month learning the bike in my back yard, riding through the forest, and learning the throttle response, I only had 1 close call, and the hit on the tree.
I have a job, so I am going to be buying a 600cc bike, but I still really want my bike back, but I also want to be able to go out on weekends and ride with some people. I am not a show off, I don't care about how fast other people are going, if they can knee drag, or if they can race off at 150+, I will personally never take the bike over 70MPH and I will never go on the interstate haha
With the sport bike, I will not go out onto the main road until I get used to the slow maneuvers in my driveway and on my road, so not for a few weeks, I have ridden my friends Suzuki 800cc cruiser, and It was very mellow, I had no issues getting going, and cruising at 45MPH. but slow maneuvers with it are extremely hard

Why do you need a 600? Buy a GS500 or EX250/300/500

Or, you could go and take the MSF course first, then get a bike that won't bite you over a minor screw-up.
