Bullshit. The Ninja 250R exceeds every rider's need for legal street riding. You can't get a better "training" bike. I say "training" because one, they're one of the best bikes you can start out on and two, that being said, they're capable of being pushed hard. Once you get a few thousand miles on it and really figure out what you're doing, they're fun as hell.
Try to find a 2008+ model Ninja 250R. They look better than the 2007 and older models. The 2008's can be had for as low as $2,000.

Amen. Most of my friends told me that I would hate my 250 after a week because that's how quick I would get comfortable with it. Though I did get comfortable after a week (not MotoGP status), I still have tons of fun riding my 250 on and off freeway. Go for the 250.
