Ello Everyone,

I am a young new rider. I grew up riding Dirt bikes in Oregon, now I have a streetbike while going to school in Southern California. I bought myself a 1984 Kawasaki GPZ750. Its fun, it sounds like a monster, but the carb needs some minor work, and the bike just overall needs some TLC.

I feel fairly comfortable pulling out a carb, as I have done this on dirtbikes but I realize that 4 large carbs is another ball game. This bike definately needs new intake manifolds to the carb, and Boots to the engine. They are cracked and I am spitting fuel from somewhere.

I will posts pictures soon, but I think I am spitting fuel from the carb. The guy that I bought the bike from said that the engine has a small minor leak that he repaired with super glue. (I think he doesn't know what he is talking about because I have pulled the gas tank off and didnt see anything), there was however a split in the fuel line at the end where it connects to the "reserve/fuel/off/switch" So I am just going to replace that and see if it works..

I could use any help or advice anyone has with replacing the boots & manifold. Cheap places to buy them? (dealer wants over $200 for 4 manifolds / 4 boots) I also need to buy some plastics covers for the triangle area under the seat. I don't want stock ones, I would prefer just like some aluminum or white plastic triangle covers over the fuse boxes etc.

Can you post pics on this forum?

I've got an 83 and the one price of advice I can give you is when you get done cleaning the carbs and the jets, make sure to hook up the airbox. I thought it would still start with out it, and it will if you pull the choke out, but it will have a gnarly bog and you'll think you messed up something in the carb. Oh and don't pop the tops on the carbs cuz that diaphragm is EXPENSIVE. This is also my first street bike and I love it. Pics can be posted with the paper clip button up top by the send button. This is the only pic I have of my bike but I've got all the plastics and she's clean

Pops just finished doing a rest-mod on this exact bike for his brother, put a set of Kerker headers/pipes on it (ceramic coated flat black inside and out), best looking set of pipes I have seen on the bike before and easily one of the best engineered pieces I have ever seen. Cleans up the sound, its quite and reasonable just idling which is great for puttering around the neighborhood but when you get on it sounds fantastic!

Just a thought and my 2 cents ;)

I say leave the carbs alone, check/replace all the rubbers. 200 for four bootS? that's up there. Don't mess with taking the carbs apart unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. you should remove them. just be careful of the cables. I get into things like this and end up breaking more than I'm fixing. Just a tip ;)
