Just got the bike last week. I started it up today to run it a bit. it ran for about 3 minutes but then I revved it slightly and it died. Haven't been able to start it since. I'm wondering if it is possible I flooded it. I noticed after about 30 seconds of cranking it gets slower, now the battery is supposed to be new (according to previous owner I have not checked) but I'm thinking maybe the colder weather has drained it. any serious comments appreciated
If it is a new battery, it might need to be fully charged with a battery charger, or it might need to be taken back under warranty.
Also make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight- someone quickly adding a new battery to sell it might have taken bad shortcuts.
I would test the amount of volts getting to the battery with the bike running, then probably try new sparkplugs, and putting some Startron or Seafoam in the fuel tank.
Enough power to turn the starter, but not enough power to fire the spark plugs is the typical sign the battery is failing, along with the starter slowing down.
If the battery gets lower, the starter does not turn and you will hear a lot of clicking noises from the relays.
that's definitely what it sounds like I've never experienced it with a motorcycle so thank you again
