I am a new rider and just got this bike (440 LTD 1981) so I apologize ahead of time if this is a stupid question. I went riding on the bike for the first time today and noticed after a while (i had stalled out a few times due to my own errors) that the oil light would come on when not reving enough.

As soon as I would rev more the light would go out. Basically when I was riding correctly, no light. It would go from light on, to light flicker a bit, to completely off when I was at the right speed for that gear. I didn't notice if it was doing this before all of my stalling.

Any thoughts? I ordered a manual and plan to check when it arrives but am not optimistic for finding the answer to this in there. At least I'll know how to check the oil once it arrives (obviously the first step).

It's not leaking any fluids at all if that matters. An oil change was done this season according to the owner and I believe him because he was straight with me about everything on the bike.
