Hey fellows!
loving the idea of a bunch of social adrenaline maniacs gathering in 1 spot!

Finally got my A licence last week and got around using my 250R i had sitting in 1 corner of the house for literally years...(long story)

It's a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for me at the moment.. i want to get out GO and get the tires scrubbed, get the engine worn in etc... oh wait you've new tires and engine at the time of year when 5C is considered okay:surprise:

Have I shot myself in the foot.. would i just be better off winterizing the bike as opposed to risk "the scrubbing in" on tires that likely won't get warm because..... winter is coming( couldn't resist:crying:)
Gonna pick my days obviously... but i wonder if there's anything that give me a bit of a boost cos it's sure as hell scary ppl looking at you on a sportsbike NOT at all leaning into a turn nor making idealistic progress and giving you the dabbing headlights and fingers..

Ah well, we'll see what the future brings;D

Welcome here.

Winterization is only needed if you have the bike parked more than a month.

You may want to put a stabilizer in the fuel such as Startron or Seafoam, and hook the battery to a charger if it will be parked a few weeks at a time. It is often best to keep the gas tank full.

It is also a good idea to roll the bike a few inches once in a while to prevent flat spots on the tires, or have the tires sit on pieces of carpet.

Thanks :)

HMm, i see what you mean... when it'll come to it snow "proper" ice, slush you name it.. i'll have to bring down the hammer, but for the time being i'm gonna attempt to do everything (that's isn't OTT and asking for trouble) to get as much run-in as possible.

Many mates have already pointed out I have done this whole bike thing at the wrong time of year aye...
Nevertheless.. can't help but wanting to twist and smile;)

Normally I'm all up for snow(my dog loves it!!!) and cold not arsed, i hope however that this winter will go by liek it never happened!

In my teens I rode a dirt bike down to 20 degrees F and less than a foot of snow, on flatter ground.

In my 20s my record was a 50 mile ride on pavement at 22 degrees, stopping often to warm my hands, and riding over a few snow drifts and having fun feeling the back tire slide. There was freezing rain then light snow the day before, but the pavement was mostly dry and windblown clear, and the bright sun made the ice on the tree branches sparkle like diamonds.

In my 30s to early 50s my limit was at least 40 degrees.

Now at 57, my lower limit is 50 degrees for shorter rides. I do not want to buy heated grips and a heated vest, and I do not like the feel of heavy winter gloves. 60 degrees is much better for a longer ride.
