2006 kawasaki zzr600

Recently I was riding down the highway when a car pulls aside and points to the back of the motorcycle, I pulled over to find that at the end of the muffler it looked as if it were cigarette liter glowing red inside of the muffler. once it cooled down you could see that inside the baffle had melted and once cooled it hardened into a ball of metal. Now since this has occurred the motorcycle doesnt rev up to RPM and has no throttle response. Has anyone heard or has had this happen? Mechanic I took it to has been in business for 40 years and has never come across this.

It is strange.

Maybe a carb float valve stuck open, so there was a lot of carbon buildup and extra fuel in the exhaust baffle, that eventually caught on fire.

Besides cleaning the carb float valves and fixing the exhaust, I would also have the carb float heights checked, the engine valve clearances checked and have the carbs synched with vacuum guages.
