So I figured I'd start a thread to discuss any drama related to MotoGP, in particular what riders will go where.

So here are a few topics to get things:

1. Will Rossi stay with Yamaha? There seems to be a new golden boy in the garage in the form of Lorenzo, is there enough room for 2 #1 riders. That, combined with the whole differenent tire manufacturers could begin to be a strain for Yamaha.

2. When and where will Ben Spies move to MotoGP. He's said he definetely wants to make the move, and I think he is as ready as he will ever be. It appeared to be a done deal that he would be coming to Suzuki in 09 for a factory ride, but I've also read about trouble with the sponsor wanting a spanish rider instead of the american.

3. Will Hayden leave Honda? This has been rumored for years. The HRC spot is widely coveted, and Hayden has had his critics since day one. Despite winning Honda it's most recent championship, it's widely known that he still isn't their number one rider. And with Dovisioso looking impressive so far, it seems very plausible for HRC to look to another young gun from the 250 school. It was thought Hayden might move to Ducati in 08, until he finally resigned for this season. But what about 09? Melandri doesn't seem to be a good fit for the Ducati, but if anyone else besides Stoner can tame the beast, it's gotta be Hayden. Supposedly their riding styles are pretty similar.

4. Who will replace Ant West at Kawi? Of course it hasn't been determined that West will be released, but I can't imagine them putting up with the poor performances he has had so far this year much longer. Kawi has been throwig a ton of resources into their program to become competitive. I suspect they will go after another big name to compliment Hopkins. So who will it be? Marco? Hayden? Spies? Rossi? Sounds crazy, but they are all possible candidates.

5. Will Edwards leave GP? Before the season started, it was reported that this would be his last year in GP, witha move to AMA likely. But it appears he has gotten some renewed motivation recently. He is saying he wants to stay, and with his performance so far this season, I'd imagine he would be able to find a ride, even if the Tech team wanted to release him.

6. Who is the next young gun to immerge from 250? It looks like the talented Bautista is prime to make the move. Haven't heard anything specific about him, but there has to be some talking going on.

Ok, that's all I have for now. A bit more than I planned on bringing up, but I get carried away with this stuff. I love it. It's like my version of a soap opera since I don't watch any of that crap on tv.

So reading the article about Lorenzo in the current Sport Rider and Lorenzo thinks rider aids are NECESSARY. Kenny Roberts says "bullshit"(that's literally what he said, and Lorenzo invited him to ride his 250hp M1 so that he would change his mind. I think if King Kenny can handle a 500 2 stroke on fucking terrible tires by today's standards he can handle your M1, George.

I'll never forget seeing KR wheelie IN THE CORKSCREW'S CREST on the 500 2 smoke in 2011 as part of 50th anniversary celebration stuff. They even had an M1 too which lawson and KR took turns riding, they each said it was a toy compared to the 500. Yeah I think JL needs to check his facts....

Implying anyone could hope for more than a top 10 finish on that bike in the first place.

And the sabotage bit was a joke of course.

They're different bikes that require very different skill sets to ride. Roberts could not ride Jorge's bike anywhere as fast as Jorge can. The opposite is probably also true (in Roberts' prime of course). They're different riders from different eras of different bikes that require different skills. The rider aids don't mean the bikes are easy to ride. Everybody knows that isn't true.

Kenny Roberts On The Yamaha M1: "I Liked My 500 A Whole Lot Better" | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

The skillset used to ride Roberts' bike and Jorge's bike are completely different. Back in the day, riders did not have to be remotely as precise every turn, every lap, like they do now.

The number of riders who can ride the bikes that well are extremely few and you already know who they are.

Wasn't exactly right about that, now was he? The character of the bikes hasn't changed that much to resembled the older 990s he's familiar with.

To him, the bikes are not as 'fun' to ride now, which is debatable. Many current riders comment on how much enjoyment they get out of riding the bike when it's working right on one of their favorite tracks (Stoner, Philip Island for one)

Anyway, it's just the opinion of an older generation compared to the new. I wouldn't say either of them are right. It's an impossible comparison.
You're not getting it. The discussion was solely about TRACTION and LAUNCH CONTROL. Nothing more. Ignore the rest of the bike. It's about being able to get the power to the ground. The 4 strokes aren't even in the same league the 2 strokes were. Not to mention KR's tires didn't even have as much grip as a set of Q2s or S20s. It's like a pink Barbie Corvette vs a ZR1.

Jorge said "traction control is NECESSARY." Obviously this is not the case.

Jorge cannot ride a premier class bike without traction control at all. We saw that at Laguna. Shit, a couple years ago he couldn't ride one WITH traction control half the time.

if well over a 1/3 of his races end because of mechanical failures & nothing happens to Iannone, then we may have a case :D but he's already got a good excuse, simply its a ducati :Laughing rolling:

Spies has done worse than hayden if you ask me. Even in 07/08 when it was widely know he just didn't gel with the 800 version of his former bike he still got podiums. Since joining Ducati, he's managed a podium in 3rd place each year. If he doesn't get one this weekend, this will be the first season he's had without a podium. yeah his last win was 6yrs ago but he got more podiums as a 'factory' rider than spies did.

So what I'm getting at with goingtoscotland's point that Kurosaki doesnt.

Is that REAL men race bikes with no TC, regardless of how much power it puts out that it become impossible to ride for anyone who's not sensitive enough to the machinery.

If there was no TC rule, Rossi would been of a contender this year.

Is that right or am I way off?

Pretty much like beating dead horse if anyone continue to debate so intensively, yet continue to disagree without any compromises. :deadhorse:

I can only say that MotoGP prototype class bikes are extremely complex.

Anybody can ride it, but not to the point they understand the bike's language to be competitive, on either 2 stroke or 4 stroke.

It's racing and none of us were in Marquez's head, yes it was practice but it didn't look that horrible I've seen worse.

You get in hot and think you have more space than what you have or the guy went slower on the previous lap that shit can happen. Did he need to be thrown to the back of the grid? Eh a little excessive if you ask me.

Contact was minimal but definitely could have been avoided. Corsi even stood up for a second. Does anyone know if he hit Corsi's lever? Don't they have lever guards on all the bikes now? I've seen way more contact than that and no one went down
