2008 ninja 250r oil leak???

My ninja has been leaking out of what looks like an oil leak tube(located on the left side near where the side panel meets the frame). So i would assume that is i some what normal, but i has been leaking a lot of oil. The only thing i think it could have came from is when i fell after hitting a gravel patch, but that hardly caused scratches on the side panels. Any possible reasons for this problem would be greatly appreciated. -rbrian2002

maybe oil got in the air box. and its slowly draining...

did u check ur oil after it went down? was it low?

it doesnt take very much oil, to make a very big mess.

thank you very much for the help i went down to check the oil, airbox, and take pictures and sure enough the tube the oil was coming out of was connected to the airbox. So a buddy and i tipped my bike just enough to drain most of the oil out then finished the rest with a paper towel. thanks a lot, that oil leak was starting to worry me, now i need to get some more oil and most likely problem will be solved.
thanks again!- rbrian2002

check your oil level in the sight glass on the right side of the engine. Is it at the proper level? Oil may be overfilled.

also, some 250Rs have problems where that tube connects to the airbox being blocked from the factory from leftover plastic flashing. make sure yours is clear by hooking up another hose to that airbox inlet and blowing into the tube. If it's blocked, you need to fix that problem, either at the dealer or on your own.

well the tube isn't blocked or anything that was something i checked around 2 weeks ago when i first noticed it, and the oil leak has stopped (which i am thankful to you for) but now the glass sight is completely black even when its leaned over on the kickstand. Do you know what this could be from? And i have not refilled the oil so i am expecting it to be on the low side.

sounds like your oil may be over filled. try tipping the bike a bit further on it's side and see if you can see a definite line between air and oil in the sight glass. is this bike new or has the oil been changed before?

how many miles now???? when you filled the oil, did you stand the bike vertical to read the oil level after you changed it?
