I lost my keys......

Ok, So I lost both my keys one of them broke and I didn't want to pay to make another spare. I tore my house apart looking for the one set I had and it was nowhere to be found. I think it fell out of my helmet when i was walking from my car to my bike and somebody picked it up...I'm glad they didnt jack my bike...But its gone. I had to carry my bike with my friend into the garage haha. How do I get another key? :S

you might be able to take either the ignition or the gas tank lock to where the make keys and they can do one for you. or if you have the serial number to the key for your bike, you can just call kawasaki for them to make one for you.

Well if you got it from a dealer go to them and get another, probably gonna be like $20, that's what my stealership told me a replacement would be. Might as well just go straight to Kawi though, since that is where my dealer would go anyway, they just play the middle man and try to make some more money.

Not sure if you have it, considering you done have the second set of keys, but mine came with a little plate that has a 4 digit number on it. That number is used to remake keys.

Well, they're always in the last place you look.

And I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's probably a bad idea to put that number on the internet. Don't exactly want every other dude out there being able to make spare keys to your bike!

Hey here's the picture of it. It was attached to my second key when I got them from the dealer.

Good luck because things are not as simple as they appear on the surface. Search past threads on "lost keys" and you will be amazed at the difficulty some people have had in getting a replacement. Everything from: 'the 4 digit code doesn't mean anything';' the blanks are unavailable'; when they get a blank they are are made of steel so no locksmith will touch it cause it will ruin their machine; etc.

I was lucky and had a locksmith willing to cut a steel blank for me. BTW, the dealerships generally will NOT be able to make a key for you.

Here is just one thread from this forum and there are many others telling their horror stories. Good luck to you.

Key Code
