Thanks guys for the comments.

To clear it up a bit. Did we copy the AP exhaust? Sure. Call it a replica a copy whichever you like but this thread isn't for that issue.

Sportisi makes great products. Brams also a great guy to work with. some people like what they offer some don't...can't please the world. To each their own.

Who isn't trying to make money? Ztrack should understand. He lowered his prices for people here on this forum and others to help people who just can't afford the high end product. Is he making money off it? yes. Is it much? don't know but he could sell them for much more retail. Principle is he made his own investment to get the product here so consumers would have a lower cost option. While he holds the risk since its his money invested.

I'm just trying to do the same :)

I understand that. My first post was more towards sarcasm than anything. hell to pay the rearsets will not be sold here unless the several people who bought them love them. Evitably its shitty pictures not work that makes them look cheap. I'm done here good luck with the sales.

I'll get pictures up of the actual full exhaust not installed. Don't have pictures of the Core split open but let me see what I can do.

This thread is informing for those looking for an exhaust for a cheaper price.

Mm I think Ajaygraci or teh250r did a review. Can't remember who exactly but whoever it was scored is a 9/10.

There is a 1 year warranty on quality/construction.

I'll get pictures up of the weld quality/construction.

I don't understand why you would go through the trouble of making an exact replica of Area P's exhaust? If your going to steal their design, why not use the basics and then change the appearance up a bit so it is somewhat unique and looks different.
By stealing their design, your guaranteed to have people spam your thread pissed off at you and calling you names and whatnot. Most people out there are going to go with the real proven and tested thing over a copy. The only people buying a cheaper copy exhaust are the people that want the cheapest exhaust possible to improve the look or sound of their bike...they aren't too concerned with the performance increases (which is Area P's expertise). If you had made the exhaust look unique, I think you would get a lot more sales.

I'm not trying to put you down, your exhaust might in fact be very well built, I don't know...but you did admit to copying Area P's design.

On a side note...why does everyone copy the Area P design? A lot of people out there agree that the Yoshi pipe is the best looking pipe (I still for some reason love the basic design of the Area P pipe for some reason?), just way to pricey....why hasn't one of the cheaper companies copied yoshi's design?

Powerstands is another company in the industry notorious for ripping off other designs, then sending them to China for cheap manufacture. They ripped off Pitbull stands and GPR steering stabilizers, among others. Solution: boycott Powerstands as a company. Bad business ethics should never be rewarded.

I agree I have one of these exhausts on the way and honestly I hate when people copy the original and offer it cheaper but there is more to a company than just the product itself. This guy is just starting out and may have copied but since he has just started out he will not have the customer support or satisfaction that area P has. this is to area Ps benifit I doubt that he will impact area Ps customer base at all yet He will be able to put a little more money in his pocket.

I CANT AFFORD a 500.00 exhaust any time soon and If I could I wouldnt be able to until I was ready to sell the bike anyway and get something bigger. HE seems like a great guy to me and to hate because he copied the exhaust is very petty after all it is about making money If the people who operate area P are scared of losing any customers than that will push them to become an even better company than they are now. I have communicated with the people of area P and they to are amazing and if I had the money to burn on there exhaust I would have in a heart beat but the point is I DIDNT.

Now when you say you get what you pay for lets not be in such a hurry to down this guys exhaust after all no one has tested it out on the forum yet now have they? so until there is some judgment to back up the quality issues lets not assume. I know I took a risk buying the exhaust from a non reputable source but he has been great so far. he already said that he copied it give him some slack at least he admitted it....

WOW SO HARSH. its a simple break down it goes like this

Area P- Great customer support
Research and developement on their product
proven power gains
quality materials
a strong customer base (plenty satisfied customers)
and a hundred thread praising their product

PLMFG- Great price
Fast shipping
good looking full exhaust (we know this because we love the area P)

Area P did not loose a customer with the me and possibly some of the others buying this guys exhaust. Because if he hadnt come out with it I would have bought a slip on that THey clearly dont make and would you say that company was This and that and all that BS? I dont think so

so lets sit back and take a chill pill.

lol so sorry for the rant but i just think thats the way business goes and we should stop acting like we dont know

So far no ones done a Dyno on it yet. I had someone who said they would if I gave them a discount but they ordered and never returned with a dyno.

Tc3jg who did the video for me said he felt a good performance gain on the butt dyno :)
Ok well since ive rode the bike now for a good while let me tell you the little tidbits of extra power Ive gained turned the bike into a totally different animal.

I seriously can hold off till next summer for a 600 or larger bike....the exhaust mod and jetting have pleased me very well as far as power goes. long as the exhaust build quality holds up Private label has released a sweet system.

I am now thinking of re-gearing the bike as some others have done.
Yea the sale is still up for $300 w/ free shipping but I'm not sure when i'll end the sale.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask or PM me.

Thanks

Perhaps you haters aren't hating on whitehendrix because he hasn't actually sold an A-tech copy yet, but he's gotten nothing but love for the effort so far! I prefer the Sportisi Motorsports design and will be ordering a color-matched one from ztrack when I get the funds.

I, for one, want to see MORE knock-off products... like a cheaper cowl (the damn thing's mostly plastic!), cheaper fender eliminators, and cheaper stock-replacement fairings (as opposed to race fairings w/o headlight mounts, rear-seats, tag/blinker mounts, etc).

Honestly, why is this so controversial when Zero Gravity "SR series" ("Stock Replacement") windscreens and Shark Skinz/Hotbodies race bodywork can copy the OEM look all they want to? Some racework even copies the optional rear seat cowling, though, integrated into the tailpiece(s). So Kawi's out ~$100 for every racer that buys that for aerodynamics instead or replaces damaged tail fairings and sells their original cowl, robbing them of a new sale to a new customer. Boo-hoo.

Edit: In response to ScraitT below, I didn't realize that they were comparatively affordable to their direct competition because I've never been in the market for an exhaust. Even so, what I meant by "over-priced" was saying that it was over-priced knowing that MUCH cheaper competition was possible and that they had not ensured it couldn't happen legally. I don't want to add any more posts on the topic to this thread, so I'm just putting this here to explain my "over-priced" comment.

Anyway, it reminded me of another market product vs. clone fiasco I observed:
When the $1.80 WiiKey Wii mod chip clones came out, they clearly copied the $40 WiiKey, bugs and all. "Mod chips" circumvent a video game console's protection so that it can play unauthorized software, be it illegal copies, backups, or imports. Because they had no copyright protection for the chip's software itself (the device was meant to circumvent copyrights, thus, any copyright claim would fall on deaf ears) and it used off-the-shelf components anyone could buy and put together (hence, you can't patent it), they had to come up with a new method to scare people into spending more: The team refused to release the bug fix until the chip was obsolete (would no longer work with new consoles) just so that they could continue lying to people, saying that clones could be detected by the update software and the fix/update would not work with clones.

They did this despite one of the advertised features having NEVER worked. When they finally did update the chip after it was obsolete and they couldn't sell anymore, they made another quick fix and broke it AGAIN with the "final" update. Other than the clones being slightly thicker, the components were identical and they knew very well that $40 was unjustified in the light of MUCH CHEAPER competition. If they never charged that much for it in the first place, those same clones would have contained the freely-available mod chip programming instead and would have been bug-free. They brought it on themselves when they made their product a more valuable target by charging $40 for <$1 of parts, hence, some clones could be unknowingly sold for full/nearly full price to buyers who think that they are genuine. The thing is, there were MANY ways they could have protected their R&D if they started with a more expensive (and flexible) design that would have still been insanely profitable at $40. They got greedy and wanted to use <$1 of parts to sell for $40 then let clones flood the market until the inevitable updated consoles would soon break compatibility (Nintendo updated the Wii to block all of those types of modchips). Compared to Area P, the difference is that they KNEW that the competition would quickly clone it and thought that they would sell as many @ $40 as they could before the console hardware was updated and the market was left flooded with unsellable clones. Sneaky.

I'm not saying that Area P is like that, but they could have seen it coming and taken measures. Either a higher initial price to pay off R&D more quickly with a lower price after competition arrives or trademarking the style.
