Thumbs down Ninja 250r Query(s)

Hello ,

To begin, I am going to be purchasing a used street bike soon, and after looking and sitting on a few models of stree bike, the 250r seems a good fit.

So, to start things off:
Are there any specified years of the Ninja 250r (3rd or 4th Generation) that had any over-all issues?
Or are certain years of the bike easier to maintain? (Questions of this nature.)

Also,
after looking at the specs, at least from about 2005 to 2012, I am not noticing any major changes in the overall function/usability of the 250r, is this correct?

~Thank you for your time, if clarification is needed, please let me know.
-Lumin

P.S. I am already pretty much sold on this bike to start with, just seeing if there is anything I may have missed and should watch out for, as far as mechanics go.

Use the search function... They had a redesign in '08.

Thank you for your reply. I am aware that theyy had a redesign in 2008, however when looking at the specs, nothing seems too drastic of a change, other than certain pieces being different. (Ie: bigger tires.)

But with this turnout it does seem there is no differences in the year to year aside from improvments here and there.

Thank you again.

the old gen is faster...the new gen has better tire choices because of the 17in size, the new gen also has better suspension. If it's just a learning bike and you don't care about tire choice or looks get an old gen.

I'm not sure what you mean by drastic changes...the bike is pretty much completely different other than they are both 250cc bikes made by kawaski with the name ninja? What were you expecting?

Heres an example that may help with what i am after.

Say theres a 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2012 models for sale. Assuming all these bikes have equal milage, never dropped, taken care of, etc.

Are any of these models overall a worse purchase? Or are they all overall a quality bike regardless of year model, as long as it is properly taken care of?

Hope this helps clarify in someway.

A 2008+ would be ideal, however they run almost the same used as new, are the 2007 and below so bad they arent worth conaidering? Can save around $2000 for a 2007 and below.

Is there a reason to not use the 3rd.generation Ninja?

Yes, your availability of funds and unwillingness to pay a premium for a 2008 + model.

Thanks you for replying.

Seems my initial thoughts that they are the same aside for some things, like the look of the 2008 to a 2007, are correct.

Guess it boils down to the sellers and overall cost.

Anyone else have anything to add?
