Default My Dilemma

So I put a puig db windscreen on the other day, and when I went to screw in the bottom right (standing in front of the bike) screw... the nut or whatever you want to call it broke off or came loose. I'm not sure if the previous owner had tinkered with it at some point or what but I hardly put the screw on and somehow managed to mess it up. So here I am with 3 perfectly good screws holding this windscreen in and one gaping black hole where a screw should go. Had anyone else had this problem or have an idea as to how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Matt Kaiser.

edit: Sorry forgot to mention...it is an 08 ninja 250

Nothing to worry about. The bolts holding the windscreen are called wellnuts. The nut part is made of rubber and they wear out. Do a search on the forum and you will find threads explaining all you need to know.

On the inside are these rubber pieces which hold the nut. They're really hard to get sitting right. As well they are prone to come out of place when you unscrew those initial bolts. My advice is either forget it because the windscrean will be fine with just the 3 and the 4th just sitting in place. Or you can take off the front fairing cowling whatever and try to set things straight. Up to you my friend.

It probably got pushed through and is currently sitting under the fairing somewhere. Have a nose around and you can find it, and re-insert the wellnut then install correctly. Alternately they're less then a dollar if you order them through the Kawi dealership.

I actually was able to locate the piece that fell (wasn't easy for some reason), you said to re-insert the wellnut. What exactly do I re-insert it into?

The best idea i have so far is to get a friend to help and attempt to reach my hand up from the bottom and hold the bolt there while he screws it in from the top. I do not want to take all of the fairings off because the previous owner actually installed LED's throughout the bike and so reconnecting all of those would be a nightmare. Thanks for the help so far guys!

The windscreen. Just take it back off and look how the rest of them are inserted.
