lock problem

So, my key broke off in my gas tank and i have no way of getting the other locks open. What is the number for the key code to get the lock open. My ignition key works, but the other 2 locks are from a different bike, and the key is the one broken. Is it possible to drill off the helmet lock and get a new key made so i can open my seat lock? My battery is currently dead and i have no way of getting the damn thing open. BTW i have bought a set of lock picks but i havent had any luck getting either lock open...This is a 97 ninja 250, any help would be very much appreciated!!

The key code is specific. There would have been a tag on one of the original keys when the bike was purchased to indicate the code.

There's really no way of obtaining that code.

If you know how to pick a lock, yes.

Do you have a spare key at all?

A locksmith would be your best bet. He should be able to get the seat off and might be able to extract the broken key from your tank lock.

The easiest way would be for someone else to do it...

Then buy a cap and seat lock on ebay for cheap.

You could remove the tank cap and replace it with a key-less one. A novel idea but up to you.

yeah i already replaced the gas tank cap with a keyless one. the problem is unlocking the seat to get the battery out. I have a basic pick and hook set from advance auto but im not having any luck getting the lock open. I might not be picking it right...

dude, pretty simple... put the bike on a trailer.. Take it to a locksmith. A good one can get the key out without messing up your locks and make a new key to fit it. As well a good locksmith would be able to match up your locks so that one key worked for them all. If you lived in charleston i'd know exactly where to send you.. In my 93 gsxr I must have broken the key off in it probably 5 or 6 times... cost me like 40 bucks for them to pull it out and get me a new one but it was no big deal for them.

The old people seem to be worse than the teens texting, I say once your 60: driving test every year.

Since you don't have a key for the seat lock anyway find a replacement and then drill the old one out. I don't remember it being a complicated lock.
