Take a large screw driver and tap it into the key hole, twist until locking mech is broken and replace with a used gas cap. Or replace with a keyless cap. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/08-11-Kawasaki-Fuel-Ninja-Ex250/dp/B006LQC5QO[/ame]
the keys in the pic are opposite to each other. the ridges on the left match the ridges on the right. i forgot to make sure the keys were facing the right way before i took the pic.
If the tank gasket has a good seal, it's pretty hard on the key using them as the sole source for closing the cap while turing the lock. I always use my free hand to apply closing pressure to the cap, and am careful to make sure the cap is seated all the way down before I start to turn the key to lock the cap.
Put your original key in a vice and bend it back into position, just be careful not to snap it. Get your money back on the spare because it looks like they used another key for the template.
Forwards or backwards that cut key looks like it was cut at Walmart by the greeter. Bend the original key straight and try the lock again or go somewhere that actually know how to cut a key. Does the bent key work in the ignition? If it does then I would think it is just the lock in NFG.
That key looks like someone made it in their basement with a hand file.
