Exclamation Used 2007, trouble starting, STILL OK 2 buy?

I checked out a used ninja 250r with 9500 miles on it. It was cold outside, the bike wasn't started in a while, there was some fuel left in the tank from a couple weeks back. I started the bike up, idles went to 5-6k, I would just tap the choke and it died, I eventually got it to 1k idles or so by literally closing the choke the smallest increment possible, then I gave it throttle and it died.

I know you're not supposed to give throttle when warming up but I just wanted to test the throttle response. Anyway. I couldn't start it again after that due to what seemed to be a battery issue.

AND I STILL PLAN ON BUYING THE BIKE!

Visually, the bike seemed great: lightly used, good condition. The owner I'm buying it from is the second owner. I chalked up the difficulties of starting the bike up to the simple fact that 1) is was cold and I didn't let sit there for five minutes to warm up which I now know that I should do, 2) old gas/carb cleaner is needed, 3) spark plugs, 4) air/oil filters. Am I crazy for believing that there is really nothing wrong with the bike other than that it needs a little TLC? I could truly tell that everything appeared to be in order, and when I go back, because I actually have my permit now, I will test drive it. But the owner is actually out of town and no one is touching the bike. Someone is charging up the battery though. So if I expect similar difficulties should I really be hesitant in buying the bike? It's clear to me that it just needs some maintenance done.

Please let me know if any ALARMS went off in your guys' heads as you read through this.

How much is the seller asking for it?
Anything is okay to buy for the right price. Lol

2250 with a really nice jacket and gloves. That price is also what's keeping it out of other people's hands. Plan on picking it up tomorrow.

Honestly in my opinion 2250 is too high. It has 10k miles which isn't high mileage, but you could get a newer body style for about $250 more. The max I would ever pay on a pre 08 that runs GREAT would be 1500. Maybe 1600 if it came with a jacket.
Idk dude id advise you to keep looking.

To much, I'd keep shopping for a better deal.

Maybe it's because I live in southern california, but based on cycle trader and craigslist the only bikes for sale below 2000 are generally scooters and other garbage. There's also no other ninja 250's close to me for sale (at the moment). If you can believe it. I'm not sure, but there are also a lot of other people trying to get the same bike as me and no one seems to be complaining with the 2k price tag. I'm still going tomorrow night to check out with a buddy. But I might just pull the trigger on this thing. there's no way this seller will let go of the bike for 1500. And with competition from other buyers I basically had to settle on 2250 just so he'd keep the bike for me for a week... Any more thoughts?

Yeah, that seems a little steep. I got my 250 with 6,000 miles for $1,800. And it had some minor cosmetic damage, but it ran perfectly fine... and that's what's more important. You could always ask him to meet you at a shop to have a mechanic check it out quick. They could probably tell you if it's just a cold bike acting funny pretty easily. Be careful though, if it's running funky and has problems those can end up costing more than the bike itself!!!
