I was at the Kawasaki factory a few weeks ago and no sign of a new generation Ninja 650R. That doesn't mean it's not coming, just that it's not gone into production yet... (Of course it is only May) ;-)

I was planning on buying a new 2011 in the next couple of weeks. I'm actually going to a couple dealerships today. I will definitely inquire about the 2012 model and if they know anything about any design changes.

If there are going to be updates in as described in a previous post (torque, seat design, body work, brakes, etc.), I will definitely wait for the 2012!

Well I went to the dealer and looked at a sweet "candy burnt orange" 2011.

I asked the sales staff if they had any info about the 2012 model and any design changes. They told me they don't get next year model information from Kawasaki until August or September.

I told them I had cash in hand, ready to buy, if and when they heard anything one way or the other.

I'm really looking forward to my new 650R!

Only in USA they don't.
It's a sports-tourer everywhere else, and IS one in reality too.

But stick a Ninja badge on it, and kids buy it and think they got a supersport,
then clipons, stickers, cheapo aftermarket exhaust.. and VOILA, you got a
bike that's got a reputation of being a noob squid top choice.

The bike is in reality more like a Versys then a ZX6R (Ninja 600), but few
know that (or care).

If it was sold with the Ninja 650 name here (EU), I wouldn't have bought it
for that reason alone.

Anyone wanna swap their naked Bandit 650 for my 650R?
