I'm actually in the same boat as the OP. I bought mine with the sport bars already on it, but I'm probably going to swap out for the factory bars. If you do more commuting than sporty riding on your bike, I'd rather have the more upright stance. Also, when you do a lot of touring type work on the bike, having the round bar to mount Ram mount gear on is very handy. Not much room for mounts on the sport bars.
Just undo what...the 4 bolts...to slide the clip on bars off. and I'm guessing another 4 bolts to remove the mounting block? Don't forget to take off the levers and switches first.
When I first got my 650r it had clip ons. But then I crashed and broke them. So I put on the stock bar. And to me, well it was horrible, felt like I was riding on a beach cruiser bicycle with the handle bar up to my ears. Didn't like turning at all. So I installed the LSL Low Handlebar. And it is by far better comfort and handling wise compared to the clips on or the stock bar in my opinion. Granted I am only 5'6" so it may be different for other people.

Yeah- when I jumped on my first EX650 in 2009 I also felt like the bars were crazy tall.
Definitely took some getting used to!
On all subsequent models I've ditched the stock bars in favor of sport bars and clip ons.
Ride On!
