Weird smell and smoke near headlight/gauge cluster - Ninja 650 2013

I was riding around and about today and i could smell this odd burning smell when stopped at lights, etc. never really took notice off it apart from 'should probably have that looked at' sort of thing.

I was riding home tonight and i turned on my bike and let it warm up, i go outside and the front of the headlight in the night you can see smoke coming up out of the headlight.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

I have noticed water (when washing the bike) has a tendency to collect around/under the instrument cluster, so much so i had bubbled blowing at me a while back when riding through a sudden down pour
It might be steam coming from your headlight or water burning off of the engine / radiator.... but that wouldn't explain the smell you noticed...
Take it in to a dealer and let them have a look at it under warranty, my cluster sometimes doesn't sweep round when i flick the ignition on. I might take mine apart and have a look to see exactly where this water sits

Heres a video of what it was

I leaned closer to get a good waft of it and it smelt the same as what i was smelling before.

It had been raining at night but not during the day, and the smell is just bad, smells like an electrical fire but not as worse, i cant explain it, it's like a deep thick smell that gets into your lungs.

pretty hard to see in the video but any kind of smoke ain't good!
Take it back to the dealer and try to get a few more videos of this to show them because i'm sure it won't happen when you take it to them, it's always the case

It's under warranty. When a bike is under warranty you shouldn't even think about fixing any problems or investigating it for yourself. Just take it in.

I get the same smell after I rode in the rain one night. Still getting that smell a couple weeks after. So it's just the water burning off inside? Even after a couple weeks it still hasn't evaporated?

I sense a service bulletin. If people would take it in, they would put one out eventually if something had to be fixed or adjusted. Bike are supposed to be fine in the elements. a bare section of wiring could end bad. Just take it in and have them check the wiring. If the bikes under warranty why do people even consider fixing or looking into it themselves?

Food for thought: Don't inhale smoke that you don't know where it's coming from. In general is better but I'm sure some smoker would chime in.

It was 12AM when i uploaded and posted this thread, i posted it as a precaution so i have something to read over in the morning (now).

And i was smelling whatever the smell was all of that day, stopped at lights i could smell it, its just i could see it this time due to it being at night and the smoke was lit up.
