my 650r got broken fairings so i am going to go naked for a bit.
my plan is to put a round head light on it.. has anyone done this or has experience? will a universal 7" round headlight work well? what things should i be looking for? any help or advice is much appreciated.

There's a million options in headlights. There's tons of different round headlights, various ways to mount them, etc. Yes, they will work on your bike.

You will find some info here (and good for bike specific info), but for something like this mod, check out customfighters.com . They will have more in the lines of custom modifications and various ways to get the light mounted as well as a ton of input on which light housings just work, and which are excellent.
