Default I'm curious I was wondering.....

I wanted to do an upgrade to my braking system. My friend was telling me that I should try and swap the front Master cylinder with an R6 unit(idk which year). Has anybody done this mod if so how do you like it and what would I need to buy in order to swap it?

For starters I would change the front brake lines to stainless steel. It improves the firmness in the lever and keeps the moisture out of the system

unless you're really that hard on your brakes, SS lines and brake pads should be enough.

idk what year you had, but my 1st gen had minor brake fade during aggressive riding/usage. if nothing was changed in the brake setup for all 3 gens, ss lines would make a big difference.

SS lines won't keep out moisture of reduce fade, but it's easy to think that they do if the original lines are less than perfect. They do slightly increase the firmness of the brakes.

Changing a master cylinder isn't really an upgrade. What it can do, by altering the piston diameter, and therefore the leverage ratio, is alter the lever travel and amount of lever pressure needed. Less travel means you need more pressure and vice versa. It's more about tuning the system for your personal taste.

I would switch your pads, flush, bleed and go from there. i would not use a different MC waste of time and money for those brakes

I have ss brake lines and I love them and I have good brake pads I just heard that the R6 stock set up is equivalent to a brembo brake set up so I was interested in that. But you guys are right i think it's about time for a bleed job and some new pads.
