Just a little history on the bike. It is a 2008 Ninja 650R
I bought it in October of last year(2015) with supposedly 2K miles on it. It was my first bike, so I really thought I scored with it for $2500. It had been laid down, but after ordering some new plastics on the right side, it looked as good as new.
Then, I noticed it losing quite a bit of oil. Not leaking, but either blowing it out of the exhaust or burning it. I had no smoke so I didn't figure it to be rings and it didn't do it unless I was running the bike pretty hard( ie shifting around 7~8K RPM) Running it light or even medium (5~6K RPM) shifting didn't seem to burn nearly the amount of oil. It started being extremely difficult to start and wouldn't idle until it was warm. It was backfiring which I was told was because of the two brothers exhaust that was installed. One day, it just never started. I checked everything that was in my capabilities, then took it to a shop.
They told me that the valves needed to be adjusted and it needed a new PCV because the bike was building too much oil pressure. So they did the repairs to the tune of around $500. The bike was running, I was happy. for the most part.. Until I ran it hard and noticed that I was still having the oil consumption issue. It seemed to have slowed, but it was still there.
Fast forward to now. I was trying to keep up with some of the local guys with 600s and got it up to around 125~130ish and when I came to a stop the bike shut off twice. It started back up, so I got it to the house. Now it is being hard to start again and wont idle until it is warm. Any ideas? Am I just running the bike too hard?
