Hi there everyone,
Just recently purchased a used 2012 Ninja 650 from the dealership with about 11,000 miles on it. So far with all my riding within the past month I've had no issues (mostly riding on back roads and a few longer trips, no stopping or sitting in traffic for long periods of time). But recently the days have been hot, in the 90's, and I have encountered some traffic sitting and longer periods of idling once the engine has been warmed up.
Once my engine is warm, and I do stop the motorcycle for any time longer than a few minutes my coolant temp light will come on. No boiling over of the radiator, or funny smells, just that darn little light telling me I have a problem, and once I get moving again it turns off.
So first thing I did was adjust the idle adjustment, but the only thing that did was make it stall when I come to stops, then I checked my coolant levels and radiator cap and everything seems OK. Then I noticed that I've never really heard my fan kick on even when sitting at a light, which I now feel may be the issue. If anyone could help me trouble-shoot a faulty fan, or thinks that the issue is/could be something else I'd surely appreciate it!
