Question 2017 Ninja 650r Exhaust

Hey y'all,
I just picked up my new Ninja about 2 weeks ago (my first Kawasaki, mostly Yamaha before) and I love it. GREAT mid-level bike, and i already want a ZX-6r... lol but for now, I am wondering what some personal opinions would be for a slip-on exhaust upgrade? I'm not looking for performance enhancement but I just want something louder, and preferably a bit higher pitched. I really like the look and sound of an M4... but according to their website, you can't get them for a 650 that's newer than a 2011. So, I come to all of you for personal opinions. or... will an M4 from an older model fit the new bike?

Another new guy here (UK based).......also keen to hear answers to this. I probably won't want to go too loud or spend too much. Not wanting to hijack the OP though!

Unfortunately on the 12+ 650R they do not make a slip on, full exhaust only. Does not make the options cheap as with the majority of videos I have seen of these bikes without a air filter, PC V, and proper map, there tends to be a ton of popping when rolling off the throttle. I have a 2015 and have a Two Brothers full exhaust, PCV, and K&N air filter that I will be waiting to install until I either find a good map, or have the extra money to take it to a tuner.

Yoshimura makes a full exhaust that starts around $700, while Akrapovic also makes a full exhaust that's around $1200 I believe.

Both offer some mild gains in HP and torque, and the Yoshi system has been confirmed to not require a power commander (although it benefits from one if you do have one).

Hi guys, you can use Arrows headers along with the slip-on of your choice, you will save some money in comparison to a full system especially if you find used headers.

Arrow headers for 2017 ninja 650 then any slip on would work? that's interesting...

After a certain model year Kawasaki welded the various exhaust tubing parts together and that is why it is not possible to fit individual slip-on cans.

I don't have personal experience because my bike is older but other members have done this in order to save money or just fit the slip-on of their preference.

The 2017 model is essentially a different bike nevertheless, more emissions restricted and with less power so I guess you will have to research the matter a bit more.

I am sure it would work better than hacking the OEM system though

Hey guys,

I'm interested in just a slip on as well. Did anyone find a solution for a 2017 Ninja 650?
