Hey y'all. I've been riding for around 2 years, and have never wheelie'd outside the occasional accidental one. Well, today I actually went out and tried to wheelie. I was wondering if y'all would check out the video, then maybe throw some tips and pointers my way? I appreciate it.
Do you know what rpms you were clutching it up to?
In the same boat as you, I don't normally do wheelies but I've been popping a couple power wheelies up in first gear. For shits and gigs

I do not, I was more focused on looking on the road than my RPMs. I found that just getting on it like I"m going to accelerate in first gear then blipping the clutch really got it to come up, but it felt a little sketchy.

Yeah man i know what you mean, plus you have to be concentrating on keeping the bike in one piece, rather than exact rpms. What I've been doing is going in first about 30-40ish right where it gets pretty torquey (8-9k id say) and then closing the throttle and snapping it open quickly. You just have to watch out not to give it too much and loop it over

I am also practicing wheelie , its hard !!! I am only riding for 4 month and its harder than expected , i can now do small standup wheelie ( left foot on rear peg) and seat down i can roll it till rev limiter but thats about it, i suppose iam real close to bp ,i started practicing by rolling in second at about 8-9000 rpm and then clutch up , now my clutching action is a little better so i can do it at about 5-6000 rpm , use one finger.
The roads you were trying the wheelies on didn't seem to have long straights. If there is a straight road in front of you, you'll feel more comfortable to actually get it up more rather than just off the ground. If you know a turn is coming up, your body will resist you twisting the throttle a little more and go higher.
So I'd say practice on long straight empty roads if you can't find an empty lot.
Like Fiveoh said, hopefully you're using only 1 finger to clutch it up. Don't be so tense on the bars, and make sure you aren't leaning forward.
Cover the rear brake.. Clutching around 8-9k in 1st should start getting you off the ground. I've been slowly working on mine but with the change in weather here that's come to a halt.
