Left or Right?
Ok I've seen a few things around town and over the yrs and now I'm wondering why?
Why is it some guys lock their bars to the right and some lock them to the left even with a side stand?
Any insight or idea why or what the advantage to either ideology would be would be greatly appreciated. Educate me oh wise ones.

You're supposed to turn the bars to the left when you get off because it's more stable. I've seen older dudes do it to the right so it's easier for them to lift it off the side stand.

on the older shuvle (sp?) head bikes, when u turn the wheel to the right, i think the bike leans more to the left, on the kickstand, makin it more stable, i think?

Most bikes lean more one way if you turn the bars that way. It's more noticible on a bike that doesn't lean very far on the sidestand. I normally turn my bars to the right because it leans the bike over a little farther.

Normally they only lock in one position, I just turn mine to the right when I park.

It's mainly just personal preference.
To the left is the unofficial standard as it puts more weight on the side stand making it harder to push the bike up and over accidentally.
To the right makes the bars and controls easy to access when your starting the bike from the left side while on the side stand. If you have a short stand or a surface the stand might sink in, to the right puts less weight on the stand so it's less likely to fall over or sink in and fall.
Most all bikes with steering locks will lock in either direction, I've yet to see one that only locked in one direction.
