Riding position? Really???

Did you know your riding position looks like a woman birthing in the stirrups? It does...

You guys look ridiculous.

The guys with the Engine Guard and feet up on the wide, high Highway Pegs - yes... I agree. Maybe not birthing... 'ready to receive' perhaps.

Normal riding position on a cruiser, however, doesn't look like that.

Heck, Ape Hangers look stupid and uncomfortable. Doesn't negate how painful the normal riding position on a crotch rocket looks.

Many people hate what they don't understand.

I don't hate sport bike riders - I just don't understand it, but I still wave.

I did have another thought about why some riders don't wave at sport bikes - they might think they are going to fast to see much of anything and don't want to distract them. ... sounds funnier when said out loud with the right timing.

... and thank you... I feel like a necromancer.

Looks???
Are you telling me you've judged a type of bike you've never ridden?
Do you understand that all ball-rockets have very much different ergonomics from each other?
The riding position on my ZX14 is very much different than a ZX10. Do you know what either of these bikes even are ???

Not many places around here let you just test ride the bikes. I've sat on a few, from Kawasaki to Triumph to Suzuki, 'tested' the riding position (as much as possible without riding) and I didn't like it. Felt uncomfortable. Looks uncomfortable. Riders doing the one-hand-extended stretch while riding and stretching while holding their back and doing the wrist rub and roll after riding one for a while also seems to indicate they are uncomfortable.

I have judged a type of bike that I've never ridden - I don't think I'd like riding one. I think it might be fun on a track or a twisty road for about three or four miles, then load it up in the trailer and go home. I've also judged that I would not like to try base jumping with a wing suit and I don't want to be set on fire.

I'm not saying you're an idiot for having one, I'm not saying you're dumb for riding one or buying one. I'm not even saying that I absolutely would hate riding a sport bike. I'm saying I don't think I'd like riding one regularly and I don't want to own one and I don't like the way they look and I don't want to buy one to ride for a while just to make sure.

... like I told my brother - if you want to give me a motorcycle, I'll ride it.

Sounds like the arguement my wife uses when I turn my nose up at dinner.
Wife: the dog likes it.
Me: the dog also eats out of the fucking cat-box...

Carry on.

I have nothing against them. I wave at everyone except scooters and scumbags/squids.

I know you want to exaggerate to get your point across but really? 3 or 4 miles? C'mon now, if you are going that's only like 3 minutes if you are going 70.

Well at least you realized that it's not for you. Not everyone will fit or be comfortable on a sport bike. For instance, I was riding home from work the other day and a 350lb (or more) guy was on a gold wing. I waved at the dude but he didn't even acknowledge me. That is just about the only bike that guy can properly fit on.

Same, I wave at everybody, even I caught myself waving at a scooter once cause it looked like a bike from far away on a wide road. My cruiser friend joked that he will wave to anyone anytime, even mid turn and that he will crash to make the wave, haha.

I say the same thing about cruisers. Why bother getting a bike at all? If i want to spend $20K on a vehicle that isn't fast, doesn't handle well, and isn't great on gas, i'll buy a pickup truck and at least get some utility out of it hauling shit around.

In the same light, who said bikes were only about "fast, handle well, and great on gas"?

Some people ride because they like to ride.
