Why I dont like naked's
The word "naked" congures up all kinds of pictures in the mind, depending on what you have seen in the past! But to clarify something right off the start, I like ANY motorcycle over a 4 wheeler any day naked or not. Be it dirt street or in between I am in!. But when someone asks me what is my favorite ride? Its a hot full fairinged sport bike. ( currently an 06 ZX10R ) You see I have been riding bikes for 40+ years. And judging "naked " on what I have seen in the past was what was the only available bike around. But they were not called "naked" they were just called bikes! It seems like in everything nowadays they take something that has existed for eons and exploited it to create something new. Its kinda like the new anatomy of women created by wearing their jeans WAY low and short shirts leaving what appears to be a whole new body part between the stomach and hips! ( not a complaint just an observation :^) Back in the day my first cafe racer (before they were named such) was a Suzuki T 350. Of course what I wanted was a RD350... No wait a RD350 with a after market fairing kit. You know the one, seat fender combo and front side fairings with rear sets. Yeah thats what I am talking about!! Performance who cares just want to look fast. That was it. There WAS nothing else out there. Eventually I bought a 87 Ninja 750, and by god that was a dream come true. That thing would easily out ride the tires available at the time. But then came the steady stream of development. You know that word that means you go forward not backward! Now I get naked s, really I do. It's just that when I think of spending the same amount of money for "less" bike, I dont get that. You know the saying been there done that. But really that is what makes motorcycling so great now a days. You have what we have never had, choices. You have everything in between all the choices. So I wanted to rant and get it out, and remind all you newbies. Naked's are NOT new they are old! Its kinda like this. Once we had carrier pigeons. Then we had morse code. We finally graduated to the telephone and wireless, but now people do texting. I am sorry, I dont get it. Going from the cell phone to texting? Its like going back to morse code!
Cheers!
