There was that post a day or two ago about that 2009 ZX6R for $5,750. If that was being sold in South Jersey, I'd go batshit. No one's asking less than $7,000 for a 2009.

Yeah I saw that one, I thought that was a pretty decent deal around PA too. I normally see them go for about $6.5k. I just can't get myself to like the front view of the bike. I've never ridden an 09+, I'm sure it handles amazing though

Yep, some people are definitely nuts. I always look around on CL to check things out even though I'm not shopping. Lately I've been looking at Z1000's, and look at this nut:
He's asking $8500 for an '05 Z1000 with 11k miles on it. What the hell is he smoking? Things $1500 more than that brand new 8 years later. That's worth $5k-5.5k tops.

Ah, the beauty of craigslist...
You gotta love the people who think a nice used bike is worth more than a brand new one. Haha
It's the damn smoked headlight covers that raise the price on that beauty
I always tell myself I'm not shopping when I get on there either.....but then I find an excuse as to how I could use it later even if I don't NEED it right now... it always gets the best of me

We have those fantasy prices in our local paper, too. Turns out that some have made the minimum payments on the Kawasaki (credit card) financing, and then the cheap financing period ran out. They want to dump the bike to avoid the interest rates. Talked to the sales manager of our local bike shop about it, and he confirmed my suspicion. If they're not asking for at least the pay-off, they never get out of their obligation with the bank...and a new possible owner will never get to see a clear title....

I saw the same ad and thought the same thing. That bike will be sitting for a long time, especially since z1000 aren't the most sought after bikes.

That's exactly what happens. Some kid buys a bike at a promotional rate and makes minimum payments until the promotional period ends. Then the interest jumps to like 15%. Now they still owe almost msrp and are trying to screw the next guy into paying off their lein. I think it's called the gixxer effect. I still see 05-06 636's with $6500 asking prices. It's retarded.

I think that was my post. My friend just sold it yesterday. He bought it when I got my 636, and racked up a crap ton of credit card debt on the side to boot. Since he was never really that dedicated to riding he figured he'd try to get out from under it. Ended up selling it for 500 more than he owed at 5500

Smart sellers will have a number in their head that they'll settle for, then add some on top of that for bargaining purposes. Seller gets the money he wanted, buyer thinks he/she got a sweet deal. It's a game we all play, but it is what it is. A dude on CL was asking $350 for his weight bench set, so I offered $260...he countered with $270 . I did get a deal though, but I thought the $10 counter was pretty funny.
