Yes, but that's not the only problem there. Every time I went to the Dragon it had rained badly. Either on the day we arrived, or over night before we rode through, or even while we rode through.... There are limbs and leaves around any corner at any time. My rear tire was sliding sometimes like on soap. There is no reason for actual racing on this road ever, unless it's an official event. But of course, that's my opinion, and my bike doesn't run on testosterone, and neither do I....
Brushing up on cornering skills BEFORE people go there helps, too....
Deals gap is just another road. I've ridden there in the rain and it wasn't much different. Mud corner is the one you need to watch the most. Ppl don't race there they just take spirited rides
Isle of Man is waaaay worse but we all still love it. I for one quit riding on the streets as I just don't have the self control
Hahaha....yeah, I've watched people up there, and I'm pretty sure that there were some 'spirits' involved.....
We have some mean little lizzards here in WV that might make the Dragon blush....
Its just a road, it not really that different then the black hills or some of the river roads near me. My parents are in there 60's and they took there old as HD's out there a couple of years ago. They have dragon stickers on there bikes. They did not crash or even come close to crashing the entire time. Going by the pics we found of my dad out there, they where not going that slow lol. You could see the pipes touching in one of the pics.
The real problem on roads like that are inexperienced people and people pushing themselves to hard, like that guy in the Corvette found out. That said, it was an awesome crash and I'm surprised no one has made a giff out of it. Maybee I will if I get bored and the pics are still up. At very least if the corvette owner knows of these I'm sure his insurance claim is solid lol.

It's much more technical than any other twisty bit of road in the world. The Black Hills are a joke compared to the mountains in North Carolina/Tennessee. If you go the speed limit any road is easily manageable, that's what the speed limit and suggested speeds are for. You can come pretty close to dragging floor boards and exhausts on cruisers at the speed limit. My dad does it on his Vulcan 1500 up there and he's not going fast by my standards.
The guy in the Vette didn't find out the cruiser fool was pushing himself too hard. He found out that the guy on the cruiser is easily fucking distracted.
Speed limit is 30mph

LOL ! at first I was just staring at the pic looking at his clothing looking for clues , but then as I started flipping through the pics I realize shit was about to get serious.
At the risk of starting another flame thread this is why I think cruiser bikes fail at being safe , unless you are riding these things like semi trucks that is , they just can't lean , are too fucking heavy, and the pegs are too damn low to the ground , add to the fact that most of these bikes have engines in the range of 1800 it easy to over throttle on the behemoths.
On top of that the guy panicked , it looked like he was trying to lean at first but then he touched the pegs on the ground and panicked and hit the brakes , heading straight into that Vette
I don't like cruiser...maybe later in life I would like to have a Kawa Versys , those things feel sweet , are comfortable and powerful as hell.

This had nothing to do with the bike. The corner could have been negotiated adequately had he been paying attention. I have been up there several times with my dad on his Vulcan 1500 dragging floor boards all over the place. He's slow by sportbike terms, but you can still get through there at 10 over the speed limit on a cruiser.
Take a look at the photos. At his maximum lean he still had a bit of ground clearance left to tighten the turn. I don't think he even decked out any of his hard parts. Then as soon as crossed the double yellow he stood the bike up. Had he continued in the turn and increased or maintained his previous lean he could have at least stayed close enough to his lane for the 'Vette to skirt by without a collision.
