All of those passes were extremely clean and safe, though? I would trust him to more safely negotiate slower traffic than the rest of that intermediate group, even at his pace.

Those were all ~6ft passes, thats safe in my book

+1, Its better than waiting to pass on a straight and make a line

He was fine. I meant more the slower riders. They are more prone to making erratic moves, and they definitely would have no idea he was coming in so quickly.
My first beginner track day, I had some slow guys make some weird maneuvers, like swing super wide for no reason, or just brake in the middle of the straight.
I couldn't wait to bump up to next level

I'd say that was a win-win for everybody. He had some fun and got to practice some passing slow traffic, the other riders got some experience on getting passed and getting passed safely and, since I didn't see any control riders, they had to be behind him trying to take notes.
I bet they were all like, "didn't that guy just pass me?" Did he ever get a bump?

This was intermediate, not beginner, though. Still not as predictable as they would be in expert, but those guys weren't that bad.
there's a video of a bunch of us advanced/level 3 guys getting lapped by brandt dillon (ama superbike qualifier from the last nola race of this year). him and a buddy of our's allan campbell... making us all look like losers. i'll see if i can dig it up.
