I was looking at the new zx-10r flat black and white yesterday but the dealership only had the abs model which is almost a grand more then the non-abs model. I heard that one of the pro riders crashed and was killed and it all could of been avoided if he didn't have ABS on his bike. I've heard good and bad things about ABS, I don't find the need to pay almost a grand more for something that can potentially end up doing worse then good. What are your thoughts on it..

My view - if it came as standard I'd be fine with it, but if it's an option that costs more I wouldn't bother with it. I'd try to find a bike without it if you're set on the 10r. Can't your dealer order one for you without the ABS?
The only bad things come from people who don't understand it or are scared of it - just pull the fuse if you wan't to disable it, but is it worth a grand? Not to me.
Yeah but its going to take up to a month or so to get it, my 111 zx-6r doesn't have it and I never had a problem braking out of a bad turn or whatever the case may be. For a extra grand, I wouldn't bother. I've heard more negative about it then good, don't really understand why the dealer wouldn't have a model of both on the floor for this exact reason.

Nah, he said they only "received" the ABS model, complete bullshit. They just didn't want to spend the money to have two bikes they didn't think they could sell. They still have 2011 left overs from 6's to 14's so I can see his argument.

I've had my arse saved a couple of times by the ABS on my S1000RR. None of my other bikes have ABS and I ain't dead yet. I'm looking to get a 2013 also....don't really care if it's ABS or not, but it does work! I don't track ride, so it's probably more useful in non-track situations. Just my $0.02.
