Well I will try to make this story as brief as possible.
We have 4 new riders at work, them knowing that I ride every day and defy logic by being alive after 2 years of commuting on Miami's traffic they come for me for advice, my advice was simple , get gear , start on a 250 , 2 of them listened to me , one got a green ninja kawi 250, the other ( a woman) got a cruiser 250 while the other 2 didn't listen to me and got a Boulevard S6 (two brothers that work at my office early 30s late 20s).
They decided that they would not invite me to their group rights because they wanted to do their little "freshly graduated ride" together since they all went to the same MSF class.
The guys riding the S6s rode down from West Palm Beach which is like a 30 mile ride on I95 ,looking to meet up with miss and mr 250s , as they got off the exit the one riding in front took the exit too fast and attempted to beat the light making a left turn , over shot the turn and hit a bridge pilar head , in between the two brothers was a car , than when he saw the rider go down slammed on the brakes, casusing the brother riding behind to low side and yes I got the typical "I had to chose between crashing with the car or low siding" as if he planned to low side to get a better crash.
Total damage :front rider forks destroyed and possible frame bent , rider came out unscratched I don't know how , rear rider low sided breaking the tail light and scratching the side of the bike, the rider on the front didn't want to buy insurance on a brand new bike , bike maybe had 100 miles on it tops.
Guess who are still riding ? the 250 guy and girl .
When I suggested that a 250 may had made a difference the guy smiled and said" I don't think the kind of bike would had made a difference" ah? yeah it would, it is a lot easier to control speed on a 250 than a 600 and it is lighter.
