Picked up a 300 today. (Yep, that was fast) Gonna be a fun year, though people are warning me that NYST is looking dangerous with their entry/exit points on the straight.
Guess I'm gonna have to check it out and see how TPM organizes it.
Me and my old man went halves on it. Basically, I'll do whatever I want to it, as long as it's rideable on the street. Gonna get some track bodywork for it once companies start offering it. Gonna swap it to GP style shift, do some fren tubo lines, new pads, new tires (for sure!), and a full Leo once it is available. That's it, maybe some little stuff here and there, but I don't wanna dump too much money into it. Still got my R6 to play with lol
I was going to say bad idea...but since you already got it, rock on! Throw some Q2's on there for now and you'll be good to go. I will warn you about switching from track to stock body work. It will eventually break tabs off your body work. On the tail section of my 09 zx6, there were some small tabs that eventually broke off. They're just not made to get taken off and put back on a lot.
Be on the look out for an extra set of wheels. When you get fast enough, you'll want to put some race rubber on there that you can't ride on the streets with. It's a PITA to change that shit all the time. I'm talking from experience...haha.
Ideally, I would have said to buy a cheap already tracked out 600. But you'll still have a blast on the 300. I just get frustrated when I get passed by bigger bikes. Luckily, there's not a whole lot bigger than a 600. But EVERYTHING is bigger than the 300...haha
Have fun!

FUGGIN WIN!!!
i am a tech inspector for TPM.. talk to glen or billy.. they'll get ya set up.. they also helped design NYST so it's probably not as bad as people think. most likely i'll see ya at NJMP this year as well.
i hope to see you at the track here in this vid.. NCBike..
skip to 13:45 to see me and the wittle 2 fiddy in action ( and watch me ct the grass thru T5.. lol on a damp track) get passed at 14:50, then overtake again in T5 at 15:47.. the little bikes build consistency if anything. thats for damn sure. the whole session will be like that some times. lol and that was taking it easy on a 70* day after rain that morning, a bit of a breeze, coldish tires that aren't that good.. get a proper set-up on a small bike and it's unreal how confidence-inspiring they are.
I love how you completely disregard the OP's bolded request for experienced people to respond to this thread. You sir are a troll.
