So I only had my bike for about one month today and I am riding in the mid lane on a 3 line road... in front of me a car starts to make a right turn from the right lane... A car pulls out from the same block making a left... so if you can view this in your mind that means its cutting me off... it did not see me around the car making the right as it pulled out to make the left.. I pressed on both brakes and pressed in on the clutch.. this is a 55MPH road...

So both wheels locked up but I unlocked them and turned right just missing the car that never stopped

I am glad that you are ok.

As a biker you are invisible and a punk who is always speeding and always at fault.

Get used to it and think for the car drivers too!

If you indeed locked your front wheel without falling you were quite lucky. Try to avoid locking the front wheel because most of the times you can't react in time.

You had a bad experience today but since you escaped unscathed it will make you a better rider!

I am so happy I am ok and I learned from this...

Got in an accident in my truck a few months back this exact same way. If an impatient driver didn't see my 4x4, then bikes are for sure invisible...

It won't be the first time this happens to you. Hell, just this week, been cut off twice by cars who didn't check their blind spots before merging right into me, despite me being RIGHT beside me. They get carried away in traffic, trying to cut in and out of lanes. Reacting to these situations needs to become a reflex, an nstinct, and not locking the wheels in emergency situations is the same.

Glad you are okay, this is the best way to learn however even though it isn't the IDEAL way to learn. And take the MSF course, these are the things they teach you to avoid and EVERY rider should be doing it before hopping on a bike.

Also, it is not a good idea to ride in the center lane as you can not block both parts of the lane. It is better to ride in the left tire track in the far right lane or in the right tire track in the far left lane. If you practice proper lane position as a new rider then it will just become automatic.

I think they call it defensive driving and on a motorcycle, you should always be scanning and aware of your surroundings. Unfortunately, every situation is different and in no way can you be taught everything you will encounter. You can just hope you have a good reaction time and recover from any misteps.

It is sort of like adding lights or sounds to your bike. Sure it may help but there is always someone listening to a loud radio while texting and smoking that will have no idea you are there. There is also the drunk person coming out of nowhere. I am in no way saying not to do those things but it always up to the rider to have awareness.

Last week I was filtering, as is legal in CA, at a stop light, and as traffic started moving, a d-bag in a Accord Coupe cut across the white line and was halfway between two lanes intentionally blocking me. I was luckily far enough and going slow enough to not have to panic brake, and ended up right behind him. So we continue on this 3 lane road (speed limit is 50 mph) and when I turn on my signal to the right (because I'm turning right at the next light) he immediately swerves over to the right lane to block me yet again.

I was pissed, but just happy to turn off and get away from him. My blood starts boiling in that situation, but the best thing to do is just to get away from somebody like that instead of "challenging" them which is my normal reaction.
