After the 1st official test at Qatar the 2 factory Ducatis are on top. Let's hope they can be competitive this year. Aleix Espargaro on the Suzuki was 4th. :Hmmmm:

And holy shite I am so far out of the loop I didn't even know Aprilia (Gresini) was fielding a team of Bautista and Melandri. They finished dead last but cool they are there.

I think Ducati is going to be a real thorn in Yamonda's side. I think the GP15 is win ready; the question will be if the Andreas have the physical/mental means to fight to the end of a race. I suppose they do to some degree as they've podium'd before, but with the GP14 once those tires were cooked that was it.

Lot of people were bitching about the rules but it looks to me now like they worked exactly as intended. More competitive bikes/manufacturers can never be a bad thing for the sport. I'm excited.

all I'll say is, Ducati, while obviously improved, I still don't think they'll be able to keep and maintain their fast pace for race duration. Yeah they can go fast now for a few laps on the same tyre as the others, but race distance? Not been tested publicly yet. Also remember, Losail favors the ducati, certainly the long straight. They'll be 'better' but I would still be very surprised if they are a consistently on the podium.

How the hell did Jack Miller go from Moto3 straight to MotoGP? I heard Nick Harris mention it at the beginning of the 2014 Valencia race but I figured he misspoke and meant to say he was going to Moto2.

Dovi puts the Duc on pole by .217 over Pedrosa. No doubt the softer tire helped but he won't be using that during the race. Team Ducati are quite pleased but let's see what he can do in the race. The Yamahas aren't looking too good.

And true to form, Crutchlow bins it during qualifying.

Rain at COTA. Maverick Vinales coming into a corner and a fuqqin dog runs out on track. Fortunately the dog thought better of it and did a 180. Neither Vinales or the dog was hurt.

Holy hell, the last 3 minutes of Q2 was incredible. Dude has a mechanical, parks his bike against the wall, jumps the wall and sprints back to the pits. Gets on his 2nd bike with 2:35 to go and goes out and does a phenomenal lap and gets back to pole by over 3 tenths. How can you not like this kid? He had 2 or 3 "moments" on that lap as well.

“When Lorenzo is dominant, as he has been for the last three trysts, the race becomes dull, at best a fight for second place. When Rossi or Marquez is winning races, it’s almost always some kind of dramatic, come-from-behind, paint-trading, barely-under-control affair that sets fans’ blood boiling.

Watching Lorenzo win is like watching iron rust. Watching Rossi tracking down some unfortunate frontrunner or Marquez barging his way into the lead brings on head-bobbing, body-twisting gesticulation, full of “oh nos” and “oh yesses”, punctuated by grunts, groans and shouts.

Put another way, watching Rossi and Marquez win is like having sex with a partner, while watching Lorenzo win is like being, um, home alone. Fun, but not nearly as satisfying.”

Suzuki starting on pole and 2nd, looking strong but can they last a whole race? Probably not. And once again Crutchlow was looking strong but he ends up doing what he always does..............................crash and burn. Rossi with another disappointing qualifying session making it hard on himself. His lead dwindling away but it's been fun while it's lasted.

Is nobody else following this championship? Marquez is all but done. Rossi with a one point lead over Lorenzo. Rossi needs to stop qualifying on the 3rd row because he can match Lorenzo's race pace. He just has to work so hard to catch him.

Completely agree with you about Rossi, and I'm pretty sure everyone (even number 99) knows that. I read somewhere where he said that the last 10 laps of the last race may have looked smooth but were actually very intense--because he knew Valentino was coming for him.

Popular opinion seems to be that MM isn't on the best bike this year and doesn't yet know how to go for points instead of outright domination. Clearly he's taking some lumps this year. But he's too fast a rider for me to completely count out. If he stops crashing out I think he'll be back in the hunt.

The plot thickens:

Marquez takes big gamble in attempt to salvage MotoGP title shot | FOX Sports

I'm a Rossi fan, but off the track MM comes off as a good guy and I hope he gets his act together sooner rather than later to help keep the season interesting. I don't know if a hybrid 2014-2015 machine is the way to go, but I get that they have to try whatever they can at this point.

I think qualifying will tell a lot. Another story says that Assen's lack of a long straight will help out the Suzuki riders, which could further thicken the plot. And Pedrosa reportedly blew through the track record in free practice, so who knows?

(Maybe Melandri will shock the world and blow everyone out of the water...) :Laughing rolling:
