From the Motorcyclist Magazine Best of 2016 List (The 1,200cc BMW R1200RT was their top pick in the Sport-Tourer category):
ALTERNATIVE TAKE // Kawasaki Versys 650 LT
So you want a punchy engine, excellent ergonomics, standard luggage, ABS, perfect commuter manners, and adjustable aerodynamics for less than $9,000? And you want terrific handling? And nearly 300 miles of range? Are you nuts?! Nope, you’re Kawasaki, and you built the Versys 650 LT.
The 650 LT is a great value, it's just too bad the Versys didn't see the same upgrades the Ninja 650 saw this year like the lighter frame. Once Yamaha rolls out their FJ-07 though, that'll be some though competition. The parallel-twin in the FZ-07 is making notably more power than Kawi's I2 and sounds better to boot. However, Kawi's V1kLT's fairing looks and functions way better than Yamaha's; that might translate to the smaller bikes as well.
