Default 2012 Ninja 1000- Anyone have one?

How do they compare to the 650? Thinking about making a change.
Thanks for the info.

Way ahead of you. I didn't even know about it until the day I made the thread, lol.

the 2 biggest differences are the weight... and the power!

I would get rid of the stock exhaust cans ASAP and get light aftermarket ones. And this is from someone who believes in keeping bikes stock!

That was my actual first pick; however Since I am fresh noob rider many many did not recommend it for my first bike-anyhow I am still set on this model in a year two or three - no matter I will have it

Extra 50 lbs of weight and higher 1.2 inches in seat ht. is not a trade I would want to make. Now if I could have the power at the same weight and seat ht. as the 650r, I would jump on it. I like the idea of a powerful, light, comfortable and more upright seating position like this bike has. This looks like a good bike for the more experienced, taller and larger rider. 6 feet/220 lbs would be perfect I think.

6'3" and 220lbs here
650 is just Ok for me; feels bit small but it definitely has power to pull me with my backpack

I absolutely love my 650. I had a layoff of 25 years and this bike was perfect for me to enter back in. I'm just curious about the 1000. 50 pounds is not much weight to add for a 400 CC increase! It's not 1.2 inches higher in the seat. It's only .6 inches taller. Hardly noticeable. I'm 5'10'', 200 pounds and it feels perfect.
Think I just talked myself into it. LOL.
Next year.
